AQ LABRADOR 422 MKIII No good home cinema can do without a good subwoofer. In the Labrador series is the subwoofer AQ 422 MKIII, which rightly bears the designation Heavy Duty – for heavy work. Even its weight and dimensions suggest that it has a heavy job to do in its basic assumptions. The Peerless SLS speaker with a 12″ diaphragm of high sensitivity, honeycomb structure and our own production class AB amplifier. The amplifier is powered by a massive toroidal transformer, the diaphragm and bass reflex radiate towards the floor. In order for the bass reflex to be properly matched to the lowest frequencies, it has a channel 80 cm long, which is larger than the dimensions of the enclosure. We found our own solution by using labyrinthine pass-through tubes, which are also part of the huge reinforcement of the case. The entire subwoofer enclosure is placed on four adjustable steel spikes, ensuring a specific defined membrane gap above the floor, and above all, that the transmitted sound will be free of distortion, and also will not disturb the neighbors too much with its booming.
