3️⃣ What wheel choose?

Besides ground conditions, load capacity is one of the most important criteria for wheel selection. To determine the required load capacity, the following variables must be known:

• the equipment's own weight

• the maximum load weight or load capacity

• the number of wheels to be used

The wheel must always be in contact with the ground. In practice, this rarely happens due to thresholds or uneven ground. As a result, the total load often ends up on three wheels, and the load per wheel increases.

Therefore, the total load must divided by three wheels instead of four, to achieve a safe load capacity.

When determining the safe total load capacity for a 4-wheeled device, we take into account the weight of the device plus its maximum load. Divide the sum by 3 to obtain the safe load capacity that should be assumed for 1 wheel.

In other cases, the load capacities are distributed as follows:

1) 1 swivel caster + 2 fixed casters

2) 4 swivel casters

Easy to maneuver in all directions, but difficult to operate in a straight line.
