It is the principal image of the 33rd anniversary of the death of the last of the Thirteen Buddhas, and is also the guardian principal image of people born in the year of the Ox or the Tiger. ``Kokuzo'' refers to a magnificent treasure trove of wisdom that is spread throughout the universe. Kokuzo Bodhisattva is a Buddha who has great merits like the universe and has the power to save all people who are suffering. He shows his right palm, expressing his compassion to listen to people's wishes, and in his left hand, he holds the Nyoi Jewel, which prays for people's wishes to come true. And he generously gives us wisdom, memory, and knowledge extracted from a storehouse as vast and limitless as the ``void.'' It is said that one can have infinite memory and gain the wisdom of the Buddha, and the origin of the words ``Sora de meru'' and ``Sorajiru'' comes from Kokuzo Bodhisattva's ``sky''.
