Description:FLAX(Linum) A genus of plants in the family Inaceae belonging to the order Malpigiaceae. There are about 180 species in temperate and subtropical regions of the Mediterranean Sea. There are about 6 species in Poland, where the common flax is the most important. Upright stems with a thick primary crown reach up to 60 cm in height. The flowers of the plants, usually monoecious, are usually blue in color, but occur in white, red , pink and yellow.
