A new anti-fall hood is reproduced on the driver's side of the leading car. The connecting parts allow it to pass through the curved rail C243 with a radius of 243 mm.
The 223 series also uses the function used in the 281 series Haruka that allows the headlights to light up regardless of the direction of travel when the leading cars are connected together. The switch inside the car can be used to switch between normal and connected modes.
