Stall Fashion Gift Stylish Luxury Indigo Kesennuma Cotton Natural Dye | 180x58cm Blue Hand-dyed Indigo Japanese Fashion Made in Japan Domestic
<Comments from the creator>
A stole dyed with "pastel", a dye plant that is rare in the world.
Pastel is a blue dye that was popular in medieval Europe.
At that time, aristocratic women all made pastel-dyed dresses, and it was used to dye the military uniforms of Napoleon's army.
Cultivation of pastels disappeared for a long time, but we have revived them.
Would you like to wear a soft, glossy blue made with a magical dye?

Established in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake
In 2015, we launched Indigo Kesennuma to solve the problem of ``few lifestyle options for women in regional cities'' and to ``create a place where women can work while raising children.'' The average income in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, where we have our workshop, is around 2.66 million yen per year, which is lower than in surrounding areas, and mothers living in Kesennuma had to go to work immediately after giving birth. However, in 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, and child care support facilities such as children's centers were closed one after another. At that time, there were very few facilities in the city where children could be left from the age of 0, and the number of children on waiting lists increased, making it difficult for mothers to work while raising children. Seeing this situation first hand, I decided to open an indigo dyeing workshop where I could work with my free hands while carrying my small child on my back.
Cultivation of the mysterious dye “pastel”
Indigo is indigo, and as symbolized by Samurai Blue, we Japanese have dyed clothing and accessories with indigo, and have treasured it as a dye that is closely tied to our daily lives. In our workshop, we use Indian indigo as the raw material and create dyes by adding only natural mordants without using any chemicals. We have also succeeded in cultivating ``pastel'', which was said to be a fantastic dye plant, in-house, and are also developing hand-dyed products using the pastel. ``Pastel'' is a dye plant that flourished in Europe in the 17th century due to its beauty, but has since become extinct. Currently, we have stable production knowledge and the only dyeing technology in Japan. We will deliver a pale, soft, one-of-a-kind blue.
Delivering just one blue
Indigo dyeing has many natural effects that protect your skin, such as antibacterial properties, heat retention, deodorizing properties, and UV protection effects. We hand-dye our products with confidence so that even babies and small children can use them with confidence. The Indigo Kesennuma team has different skills and specialties, but weave together their "techniques" and "thoughts" to deliver a unique blue with kindness and strength from the field to the workshop, from Kesennuma to all of Japan, and from Japan to the world.
