Honey manufacturer “NELSON HONEY” founded in 1973 with trust
[About NELSON HONEY]
Nelson Honey draws on three generations of beekeeping and honey production experience to offer the best New Zealand honey products.
Founded in 1973, family-run Nelson Honey & Marketing (NZ) is run by Philip Kropp.
Philip's grandfather started beekeeping in the Nelson area more than 100 years ago as a side business for an orchard.
Honey harvesting in national parks:
Our geographical reach continues to expand, with bee hives set up near our base in Motupiko, 50km south of Nelson, at the top of New Zealand's South Island.
We now have bee hives on the west coast in Hokitika, St Arnaud, Lake Nelson National Park, Kahurangi National Park, Golden Bay, Marlborough and Marlborough Sounds.
The fact that honey harvesting is allowed in such historic locations is a sign of trust in the New Zealand government.
Giving back to the community:
With your support, Nelson Honey has grown significantly in terms of production volume, overseas exports, and product diversification.
Together with our sister companies Rainbow Honey Ltd and Scenicland Honey Ltd, we now have more than 5,000 hives in unspoiled areas along New Zealand's Top of the South and West Coast.
From a small, one-man honey farm in Motupiko, 50km south of Nelson, to a large employer in the region with operations in Motupiko, Tapawera, Marlborough Sounds and Hokitika on the west coast. It has become.
Benefits from nature:
Manuka honey is the most famous of all honeys, known for its healing and antibacterial properties.
NELSON Manuka honey is produced by honey bees foraging in remote virgin forests on New Zealand's South Island.
Manuka honey is harvested from beehives and is a natural gift.
Enjoy the caramel-like flavor by the spoonful or as a spread. Manuka honey is recommended for cooking.
Active ingredient methylglyoxal (MG):
At Nelson Honey, we grade our honey based on methylglyoxal (MG) levels.
Methylglyoxal is the ingredient that gives Manuka honey its antibacterial properties, and under MPI (New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries) regulations, MG must be used to grade Manuka honey.
Nelson Honey's Manuka Honey contains no additives or preservatives.
Independently tested by three transparent laboratories for methylglyoxal levels, C4 carbon sugars, hydroxymethylfurfural, and pollen counts.
