The Big Muff Pi 2 retains the character of the classic Big Muff Pi, but with a more distinctive fuzz tone that adds even more color to your Muff sound.
With singing sustain and massive gain, it's firmly in the Big Muff tradition, delivering a unique edge and response: sharp, crisp highs, thumping lows, and a touch of raw clipping, creating a sound that's unique yet unmistakably Big Muff.
With a more dynamic and fuzzy character, the Big Muff Pi 2 is a must-have for all Big Muff fans.
The Big Muff Pi 2 comes in a nano-sized die-cast enclosure with the familiar Volume/Tone/Sustain controls and artwork by EHX fan and artist Daniel Danger.
SUSTAIN adjusts the sustain and distortion amount from medium distortion to full fuzz. TONE controls the tone from a harsh, bright tone to a heavy low end, turning it clockwise increases the highs and reduces the lows. VOL sets the overall output level of the pedal.
Mike Matthews, founder and president of Electro-Harmonix, and Bob Myer, a prolific inventor, have had a close relationship throughout EHX's illustrious history, since co-designing the original Big Muff. Always seeking innovation, Bob Myer would propose improved designs to Mike that reflected the technology of the time. During the development process, some designs were adopted, while others were shelved and eventually forgotten. The Big Muff Pi 2's dual op-amp design was one of those circuits that was not adopted in the late 1970s and remained forgotten in Bob's files. Later, during an interview at Bob's old workshop, EHX enthusiasts Josh Scott (JHS Pedals) and Daniel Danger discovered this hand-drawn circuit diagram among Bob's old notes. Josh analyzed the design and brought it to life, resulting in the Big Muff Pi 2.
